Working with Manchester Metropolitan University

Manchester Metropolitan University has become an important recruitment partner for KJ Tait.

With our Manchester office located close to the university, we regularly take part in careers events and employer engagement activities.  The relationship gives us direct access to students who are considering careers in engineering and provides opportunities to introduce them to the building services sector.

Finding the Right People

The quality of applications coming through Manchester Met has consistently impressed us.

Students arrive well prepared for internships and graduate roles, making it easier for them to contribute from an early stage.  The support provided by the university also allows us to target opportunities more effectively, helping us reach candidates who are suited to the role.

Looking Beyond Traditional Recruitment

Through initiatives such as the Diverse Talent Scheme, we have been introduced to a broader range of candidates than we might encounter through traditional recruitment routes.

That experience has encouraged us to think differently about recruitment and recognise the value that different backgrounds and perspectives can bring to an engineering consultancy.

Support That Makes a Difference

Manchester Met provides practical support throughout the recruitment process.

Funding available through the university helps cover onboarding costs, including inductions and travel. The recruitment team also assists with promoting vacancies and filtering applications, allowing us to spend more time speaking to suitable candidates.

In many cases, the process has been more efficient than working through a recruitment agency.

A Valuable Relationship

The partnership has changed the way we recruit.

It gives us access to talented graduates, supports a more inclusive approach to hiring and makes it easier to connect with people who want to build a career in engineering.

For KJ Tait, that creates long term value for both our business and the people joining it.
