SAP Modelling

We are accredited Domestic on Construction Energy Assessors, accredited via Elmhurst. We are able to provide SAP calculations for local planning and lodge new build EPCs throughout the UK.

SAP modelling is the methodology used to assess the energy and environmental performance of residential sites. Completing a SAP assessment while the build is at planning stage ensures that the finished site will comply with local building regulations. This also allows the Design Team to ‘test’ the performance of low and zero carbon technologies, to ensure that the site is able to achieve low energy design.
In carrying out SAP assessments the modeller works with the Design Team to create an accurate model of each house or each flat in a residential block. This includes modelling the HVAC system and any low carbon technologies that the Design Team plan to use. This would typically include low energy lighting, mechanical ventilation heat recovery, air source heat pump to provide heating and hot water and a waste water heat recovery system in each flat.

Our modelling is carried out to show that the residences would pass all local buildings regulations, and comply with local authority planning requirements. In Scotland, our modelling assists in achieving Gold or Platinum Section 7 standard, often required by Local Planning Authorities.
