CIBSE Scotland INWED Roundtable Lunch – Industry Insights

Alice Beglan-Grant, one of our Electrical Engineers, recently attended the CIBSE Scotland INWED Roundtable Lunch in Edinburgh, where female engineers came together to share their experiences in the construction industry and discuss how more women can be encouraged into engineering.

Conversations focused on representation, flexible working, skills development, career progression, and creating clearer pathways into leadership.

Attendees exchanged perspectives on how organisations can better support talent development, strengthen inclusion, and adapt to the changing needs of the building services sector.

A key takeaway from the event was the importance of improving awareness and understanding of engineering careers, particularly amongst younger audiences. Through her STEM outreach work, Alice highlighted the opportunity to better communicate the breadth of engineering roles and the value they bring beyond traditional perceptions.

The event also reinforced the importance of collaboration across the industry to support innovation, enhance inclusivity, and deliver sustainable and people-focused design solutions.
