A Chartered Engineer, Malcolm is a Director of KJ Tait with more than 35 years’ experience in the construction industry and over 25 years in a senior leadership role within the business. He delivers projects across the UK and is particularly active in London, specialising in life science and laboratory developments.
His experience spans all areas of the construction sector, with a strong focus on science, research, residential and office projects. He is widely regarded for his ability to lead complex commissions, particularly those involving redevelopment, refurbishment and challenging urban environments, including office to laboratory conversions.
As a Director, he is responsible for ensuring KJ Tait delivers a consistently high level of service. This includes leading the development of the client brief, overseeing engineering services input and guiding the delivery of low energy and sustainable design solutions. He maintains responsibility for compliance with programme, cost, quality and energy efficiency objectives.
He has an excellent working knowledge of the Edinburgh BioQuarter, with direct involvement in projects including Building Nine and the Usher Institute, as well as district heating design studies and energy tender exercises. His wider experience includes work on life science and residential masterplans across Scotland and England, strong relationships with leading UK universities, and contribution to industry guidance through the Higher Education Environmental Performance Initiative.
