This project involved the refurbishment of the Italian Hospital on Queen’s Square, London, a Grade II listed building, to create clinical facilities to re-house the Audiology, Ophthalmology and ENT clinics from the main hospital site.

There were a number of challenges in accommodating these clinical facilities including the Grade II listing impacting on the plant accommodation.  There are restricted floor to soffit heights, electrical capacity was restricted and our design included alterations to the Hospital HV network.  EMC shielding was required.

We carried out dynamic overheating analysis to determine where supplementary cooling was needed.  Active chilled beams were adopted to address the Hospital’s clinical concerns.

The Centre was recently nominated for two awards at the European Healthcare Design Awards and won the Healthcare Design (Under 25,000sqm) and was Highly Commended for the Interior Design and Arts.
