A new build house for a private Client, this project comprised a 4-bedroom house over 4 floors including basement, ground, with a total floor area of 430m².

The development was designed in the Arts and Crafts style and was a fully electric low carbon design with open plan public spaces and extensive south facing glazing to provide passive heating.

We provided a fully detailed design service on this project.

The low carbon design included:

• Ground source heating by means of 3 x 80m deep boreholes linked to underfloor heating. This arrangement can also provide cooling.
• Whole house ventilation is installed with heat recovery.
• On-site power is generated from PV cells located on the south facing roof.
• Rain water recovery was installed to assist in garden watering.

KJ Tait’s role also included the feature lighting design.
