Our involvement in schools includes working on projects in nursery, primary and secondary schools for both local authorities and independent schools. These projects range from the refurbishment of small classroom blocks to new school campus projects for 1,200 pupils.
Our role
On recent projects there has been a requirement for net zero carbon schools and for this we utilise dynamic simulation monitoring software to simulate zero carbon design options. There is also a move for local authority schools to be Passive House certified.
We have an in-house certified Passive House Designer who can work with Architects to assist in the engineering and thermal insulation issues associated with Passive House schemes or the Enerphit Refurbishment schemes.

Will the Government adopt the NABERS In-Use Scheme?
It’s been nearly two years since the UK Government consulted on bringing in an In-Use rating scheme for commercial office buildings over 1,000m2 through their consultation document ‘Introducing a performance-based policy framework in large commercial and industrial buildings’. Since then, there has been no movement, despite the industry support behind the NABERS In-Use scheme.

We are excited to share our involvement with Edinburgh’s greenest new office refurbishment at 30 Semple Street.
This refurbishment will deliver 57,000ft2 of Grade ‘A’ office accommodation which includes two new storeys offering spectacular city scape and castle views.
