Closing the
performance gap
in buildings

Excellence through Collaboration
Our emphasis as a business is to integrate our three key service disciplines – Design, Energy and Facilities Management – to deliver excellence in buildings.

This multifaceted offering of design specialisms allows the Company to provide an informed holistic approach to building services design which champions energy and sustainability good practice. This approach is strengthened by our Facilities Team who provide invaluable up to date feedback in regards to energy in-use, effective performance and maintainability of installations.

In recent years it has become apparent that buildings frequently do not necessarily operate in line with Client and Designers’ aspirations with regards energy, wellbeing and performance.

KJ Tait’s focus is to close this performance gap through the collaboration of our three key service disciplines to provide an integrated service and informed project designs.
Who we are
KJ Tait is a professional practice of Building Services Engineers with six offices nationwide. We are a medium sized business with extensive experience working throughout the UK in all sectors of the construction industry and with particular expertise in complex and low energy buildings.

Our size allows us to maintain a high standard of service and allows the business to operate and be managed as a single unit with a consistent approach delivered by all offices, and with all specialist disciplines fully integrated into the business.

Securing a high level of repeat business is a key objective of the Company and through this repeat business we develop strong Client working relationships. We place a strong focus on consistently delivering low energy and high quality designs which meet our Clients’ objectives.

We provide three core disciplines:

  • Engineering Design
  • Facilities Management
  • Energy Services

The Company originally delivered solely engineering design but has now evolved to offer these other highly successful services and to deliver innovative designs, which takes into account the benefits offered by an integrated engineering, energy and facilities management service.

We also provide a range of specialist services to complement our core disciplines which include:

  • BREEAM Assessments
  • Daylighting Assessments
  • Wired Score Surveys and Reports
  • Passivhaus Services
  • NABERS Assessments
  • EPC & TM44 Assessments

Our expertise is in working on a wide range of projects in terms of scale and location. We provide design services on £100M + projects as well as on small scale projects to ensure a comprehensive service is always provided to our Clients. Our focus is to provide a service which looks for solutions rather than present problems.

We have a number of national framework commissions. To support these frameworks, we have offices throughout the UK as we consider it important to have a local presence for our Clients which then enables us, when required, to provide a quick response to their needs.

We have particular expertise in the design of complex buildings and science and technology buildings.

We have extensive and ever-increasing experience designing low energy buildings and our expertise is embedded in all design services we provide.

Our Facilities Management Team provide real value to our Clients as they provide management to maintain valuable assets in good condition ensuring they operate in an energy efficient manner and enhance staff wellbeing in the workspace.

All staff are provided with structured professional training to enhance their communication and soft skills, as well as their technical expertise. This is a continual and ongoing process and is necessary to keep abreast of:

  • constantly evolving technology,
  • progressive development of operational and whole life energy and carbon reduction,
  • the tightening of regulatory standards,
  • improving our focus on Wellbeing.

Our focus and our success as a Company is based on providing an ongoing high quality service.
