KJ Tait were appointed by Reef Group to design this new mixed-use development adjacent to Regent’s Canal, Camden. The phased development will create c.1 million ft2 of mixed use facilities comprising:
Flexibility was key to the Developer and the buildings have been designed to enable laboratory Tenant fit-out with minimal disruption. We were appointed after the development had achieved Planning consent and quickly identified the design modifications necessary to upgrade the buildings to be lab ready and worked swiftly with the Design Team and Client to incorporate these changes into the design within the constraints of the Planning consent.
We identified that the originally proposed energy strategy was not suited to current and emerging energy strategies and policies and we developed an alternative strategy using air source heat pumps in order to reduce carbon emissions and reliance on natural gas. We developed a low carbon heat network to enable all phases of the development to be interlinked and to provide connection to an off-site network.
The guiding mission of the Tribeca development is to make a lasting contribution to the community and environment. All buildings are designed to be low energy and low carbon and to achieve a minimum BREEAM Excellent rating.
