The Worshipful Company of Mercers is the premier Livery Company in London and was incorporated under a Royal Charter in 1394. Today the Company exists primarily as a charitable institution, with a significant property estate holding which includes two key areas of central London namely the Covent Garden Portfolio and the City Portfolio in the City of London.
The City Portfolio is a collection of buildings around Frederick’s Place, which includes the Mercers’ Livery Hall and lies within the Guildhall Conservation Area in close proximity to the Bank of England.
Having successfully worked on masterplan feasibility studies for the wider proposed masterplan for Frederick’s Place, the first phase of development involved the full restoration and refurbishment of listed Robert Adam townhouses. This project was completed in 2019 and KJ Tait then assisted with the CAT B fit-outs.
MJ Hudson occupy the upper floors of 1-3 Frederick’s Place with restaurants at ground floor and basement levels. 7-8 Frederick’s Place is occupied by three Tenants with a wine bar at ground floor level.
The works included new engineering services integrated into the existing building which created a services arrangement.
Detailed coordination was required to incorporate the plant and ductwork distribution.
This project was a fully electric development and both blocks achieved a Wired Score Gold rating.
