The Bannockburn Visitor Centre near Stirling is an award-winning building immediately adjacent to the battlefield.  The Centre was constructed to mark the 700th Anniversary of the Battle.

The £5M Centre contains interactive audio-visual rooms which describe the Battle and its key characters.  This includes a gaming Battle Room which is a highly sophisticated IT environment with multiple gaming projectors focused on a single gaming table.

A high acoustic and environmental standard of tolerance was required to be achieved.

The Centre also includes a cafeteria, learning resource area and retail.

The building had to be constructed to achieve a high environmental accolade, a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating.

Low carbon technology integrated into the design was the application of a ground source heating and cooling loop using boreholes.

KJ Tait provided full mechanical and electrical engineering design services from concept through completion and occupation, and design support for specialist exhibit facilities.
