The ADC Theatre is part of the University of Cambridge and is the oldest University Playhouse in the country. The theatre is run entirely by students.
Our role on this project included improving the ventilation system and stage lighting. The auditorium had a very rudimentary ventilation system which had long been in disrepair and a radical new system was required to integrate modern ventilation into the very tight site.
We worked with Breathing Buildings to integrate two large roof units which mix outside air with warm room air to deliver draft-free air to the auditorium.
Extensive roof works were required to integrate these units and the opportunity was taken to also update the theatrical lighting by adding a new gantry.
