KJ Tait Engineers were commissioned to provide design consultancy services for the fit-out of the first floor of 1 St Andrews Square, the new Head Office for Ediston.
The building is located on the south side of St Andrew Square in Edinburgh and was developed by Standard Life Investments. The base build scheme was a de-furbished warehouse style space with exposed services.
A key objective of the Strategic Brief was to ensure the office encouraged movement and enabled people to work away from the desk, in a variety of settings. This was achieved by planning the prime social space at the centre of the floor, at the bottom of the building’s lightwell.
The base build scheme was designed to anticipate fit-out requirements. The fit-out project re-used the base build scheme which was enhanced and customised to suit the fit-out layout.
