From 1st April 2024, the New Build Heat Standard will apply for all new buildings and some conversions where a building warrant is applied for.
This standard calls for heating systems to be “non-polluting” ending the possibility of installing heating systems such as oil and gas boilers in new build properties.
Electric powered heat generation via heat pumps specifically is expected to be required to achieve Section 6 Building Regulatory compliance as standard.
Upcoming further changes are expected to look at existing buildings and refurbishments under the “Heat in Buildings Bill” which is currently under consultation.
