Mixed Use - Thoughts
There are often opportunities to balance loads in mixed use schemes.
Commercial space is generally in cooling mode for most of the year and residences in heating mode. This presents opportunities for waste heat from commercial spaces to be used to heat residences for a part of the year and heat hot water for the majority of the year.
There are even more opportunities to re-use waste heat if a commercial property is linked to a leisure development.
