This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with at least five years’ experience to join our well-established London office to support our growing workload and established Client base. More experienced candidates will also be considered.

The position offers excellent career opportunities and will involve working on an interesting and varied portfolio of projects across a variety of sectors including Life Science & Research, Education, Commercial, Healthcare, Leisure and Heritage buildings.  Our projects are normally located in London, at times covering the wider south east and south coast. As part of our established team, you will produce low energy, creative design solutions, to both scheme and detailed design level. Day to day work will including carrying out site inspections and surveys, preparing specifications and project reports and attending meetings.  Our project size is varied with current live projects ranging from minor works to £200m construction value.

Our preference is to deliver a detailed design service to our broad Client base.  The Company has a strong workstream of diverse UK wide projects with institutional Clients, property estates, public bodies, local councils and universities.  Much of our work is repeat business.

Applicants for this position should be degree qualified in an appropriate discipline, e.g. Mechanical, Energy or Building Services Engineering or similar, with a minimum of five years’ relevant experience in a Mechanical Engineering role within a building services context. Experience of working with relevant design software (IES, Revit, etc.) and on BIM projects would be an advantage.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong technical and communication skills, personal confidence and the ability to engage directly with Clients, Design Teams and Contractors.

KJ Tait Facilities provides professional engineering facilities support to all property sectors throughout the UK. Our expertise relates to the engineering services of Facilities Management and we employ dedicated Facilities Engineers to support our clients.


We provide a wide range of services to our clients which include; maintenance contract procurement, M&E Condition Reports and a full Energy Management Service. We have over 25 years experience of providing Facilities Management support to numerous prestigious clients and have an excellent track record on our service delivery.


The Facilities Team is supported by the wider range of services provided by KJ Tait Engineers. This integration with the other departments allows KJ Tait Facilities to provide a very comprehensive service to our clients.


KJ Tait Facilities operate from offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Cambridge, London and Manchester. We employ both industry and academically qualified Consulting Engineers with strong links to the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) and the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).

With recent increase in workload within the Facilities Department, we are looking to add to our current team. KJ Tait Facilities operates across the UK and the successful candidate will be based in our London office.

The Facilities Engineer would be expected to manage a portfolio of buildings and provide Building Services advice and support to the Client or Building Manager. Such support would include the preparation and management of specialist maintenance contracts as well as undertaking regular audits of the properties. This is to ensure that all maintenance is being undertaken and properties are working efficiently to satisfaction of the occupants.


This role would also involve providing Energy Management advice across the portfolio and looking at new technologies to provide continuous improvement at each property.


Applicants should be degree/HND qualified in a related discipline (e.g. Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering or similar).  Alternatively, candidates with practical engineering experience will also be considered. This could be on a Full or Part-Time basis.


The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate strong technical skills, personal confidence and a desire to learn.  This is a professional role so strong communication skills are required.
