KJ Tait

Formula Student (FS) at Silverstone

Date
5 August 2024

Backed by industry and high-profile engineers, FS is Europe's most established educational engineering competition which aims to develop enterprising and innovative young Engineers and encourage more young people to take up a career in engineering.  Over 100 university teams from all over the world take part every year.

KJ Tait were delighted that Jasmine Flynn, currently working with KJ Tait as an Intern, recently took part in Formula Student (FS) at Silverstone as part of UGRacing, the University of Glasgow team.

The project usually forms part of a degree-level project and is viewed by the motorsport industry as the standard for engineering graduates to meet, transitioning them from university to the workplace.  It is a kite-mark for real-world engineering experience, combining practical engineering experience with soft skills including business planning and project management.

Teams are tasked to produce a prototype for a single-seat race car for autocross or sprint racing and present it to a hypothetical manufacturing firm.  Each team goes through a rigorous testing process, made up of:

  • Static events
  • Dynamic events

Delighted to say that UGRacing came back with 5 different trophies and awards!
