KJ Tait Engineers was commissioned at the inception of Edinburgh Park in 1990 to design the masterplan utilities infrastructure needed to support the 200-acre business park. Contributing to and working within strict design guidelines, we were responsible for the coordination and integration of utilities and established common design standards for the park, and site security, street lighting, feature lighting, liaison with water feature specialist and services interface with the railway station and tram route.
We have also reviewed and implemented emerging alternative methods of utilities procurement, addressed revenue stream options and carried out single-point–of-failure audits on behalf of the building occupiers.
Phases 1, 2 and 3 of the infrastructure works have been completed, with 1,000,000 ft² of office buildings completed and a further 2,000,000 ft² of future development proposed. In addition to utilities infrastructure, KJ Tait Engineers has been responsible for full MEP engineering services design for base-build and fit-out on the majority of the completed buildings to date.
