University of Cambridge

KJ Tait Engineers has a strong working relationship with the University of Cambridge, developed over the past ten years. Projects range from minor works within existing buildings to full design of major new projects. Much of the estate involves working within occupied buildings with specific demands on how the work will affect other users. Many of the buildings are of historical importance and require a sensitive approach.

Some recent projects include the full MEP design for the Maxwell Centre and ACRC research laboratory buildings; several phased refurbishments, feasibility studies and energy reduction initiatives within the Department of Chemistry; various feasibility studies and the installation of evaporative cooling systems to the main comms room within the Department of Engineering; and several specialist laboratory refurbishments and fit-outs at the Cavendish Laboratory for the Department of Physics.
