Cranfield University Campus

KJ Tait Engineers was appointed as infrastructure planners and MEP design engineers for all of the new and refurbished buildings for the Silsoe Campus relocation project for Cranfield University. The infrastructure project for the new site required the upgrading of the existing utilities infrastructure to accommodate the additional power and heat requirements.

A programme of energy efficiency measures was implemented following a detailed business case analysis, including the installation of a new 1.4 MWe combined heat and power (CHP) plant that delivers both carbon savings and economic benefits to the University with a projected six-year payback.

Further infrastructure upgrades included the successful delivery of a reinforced and upgraded HV power supply and the design of a new primary substation for future development phases.
